Join us for our new series, “The Heart of Spiritual Formation”. For twelve weeks, Pastor Todd will take up some of the important questions often asked about our spiritual formation, drawing from a course he taught annually at Biola University. Rev. Dennis Okholm will also be teaching in the series, drawing from his own writing and coursework. Half lecture and half discussion, each time is designed to give us lots of room to share our own questions and discoveries on the journey with one another.

The series will take place on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th (+ 5th) Sundays of each month (not the first Sunday of each month: when we have our Soup/Salad Sundays). We meet before our service at 1:15 pm at Watermark OC.  Topics include:

  • 9/10: What is 'Spiritual Formation' (and is it different from 'Discipleship')?

  • 9/17: How can even my failures form me for good? (Part 1)

  • 9/24: How can even my failures form me for good? (Part 2)

  • 10/8: Why do I still sin when I know so much?

  • 10/15: How does the liturgy form us as Christians? (Rev. Okholm)

  • 10/22: Why is patience as essential as ever in our formation today? (Rev. Okholm)

  • 10/29: How do life’s difficulties form us?

  • 11/12: If I don't feel God, am I still growing?

  • 11/19: How might I read the Scriptures 'formationally'?

  • 11/26: How can we help one another in our formation?

  • 12/10: How do the 'spiritual disciplines' transform us?

  • 12/17: How do I discern which disciplines are for me now?
